14 Dec

It’s The 20th anniversary of Commander Keen’s release!

Happy birthday, dude!

Lots of fond memories of making those games, and my mom still plays 1-3!

Love that little kid.

    Yeah, that’s right!

CK 1 was the first game I have ever played and it still has a mysterious touch to me.
Still love and play the games!

I think Commander Keen 4-6 should be released as Wiiware for the Wii, don’t you think?
Then also younger can enjoy these classics.

Woohoo! Happy Birthday, Keen! And may you live long in the hearts and minds of those who love you! (and the computer hard drives, of course!)

    Happy birthday, Billy!
I guess he’s celebrating his 8th birthday for the 20th time now.

If you only find out about the games now they probably don’t seem to be as special as they once did, but even approaching 2011 everything still works.
Unlike some oldies that end up being a little (or a lot) disappointing when you try them again, Keen is still fun.

    Hello Tom!

Wow what to say. I’ve been a massive fan of Keen for like a BILLION years. Ok I exaggerate.. only 20! All of the creatures were so creative and ridiculous. Many happy childhood memories ๐Ÿ™‚

You guys should have a celebration ๐Ÿ™‚ Keen really took off.

Now, its time to find myself a joystick, vacuum cleaner, car battery and a bottle of booze ๐Ÿ˜€

I chose the exact right day to come to this site.

I remember going to a convention not that long ago and someone was dressed up as him, and they’re shirt had some SGA on it that I couldn’t read.

Any chance of a Steam release? HD remix like Street Fighter got? I know I’ve always wanted to do a graphic novel of Keen.

My kingdom for a Keen sequel designed by Tom! The deal also applies to Anachronox sequel, whichever comes first. Thanks for the memories, maestro Hall!

So old Keen is 20 years old now. Have you thought about Keen lately? I mean really really thought about Keen?

Its been twenty years. The series is still incomplete. What is ID software doing with Keen? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Honestly there are tons of Keen fans. A new Commander Keen game(if made properly) would be a hit. I say the time is now Tom.

We need the final episode, we need to complete the saga.

ID is still clutching onto Keen. Anyway you can reason with them? Rise Tom Hall, We need a new Keen!

We collectively, can do something about this. We can make petitions! We can prove that a new Keen game is worthwhile financially, I know there is enough Keen fans out there to make it work. Give it a thought Tom, I know we can do something.

We can’t let Billy Blaze die a premature death, and we surely can’t wait another 20 years. We have to try….

Hey, go ahead and petition. I’ve approached them… but I want to own Keen and control his future.

That’s the sticking point — don’t really want to do a Keen if I can’t control him as a character. Won’t go through that again. :/

If I turn 50 and haven’t gotten him back, I will tell the story in some form, and let him go…

If you do finish up the Keen story, you could get a team from the Doom community and make a third person platformer with the Doom engine, since ZDoom is very advanced and I’m sure they’d be more than willing to help you out. I would like to see the story be finished in game format, after all. ๐Ÿ™‚

Tom, do you know what it would take for you to own Keen? If it’s money then I would be very happy to donate.

I’m a big fan of Commander Keen, it was the game I grew up with, spent many hours on these games ๐Ÿ™‚ especially liked keen4 and 5, which were my favorites.
I wonder if the source code of keen games exist, especially “Goodbye Galaxy”and whether they will ever be released?
I really hope one day you get back the rights for the game, and can make more Keen games ๐Ÿ™‚

honestly, reading Masters of Doom, I realized that would kill you and John Romero.
id software should charge for each time you use your name. years after
any involvement there, to keep the company.
