The Black Square

23 Jan

BTW,  as you may have noticed, I have discovered a Black Square in my office.

I am reporting from there, seeing what will happen in it.

That is all.

Could it be the continuation of Anachronox? ^_^

I just found your blog… sooo:
    1) thanks for making Anachronox :]
    2) I hope everything is well regarding your health

By the way, “I see what you did there”:
“If I don’t do the game in the next 10 years, I’ll just write up the rest of the story and put it on my website for closure, how about that?”

I bet that somewhere in that black square is the inspiration to make Anochronox 2.

If attaining the intellectual property rights back from Eidos will require any sort of heist – im your wheelman!

There may be an interesting way for that to happen….

    But we’ll see….

It’s a black hole! Does it allow you to see through to other dimensions? Or travel through time?

Mr Hall, by ‘that to happen’ you mean aquiring the rights back from Eidos!?
I just finished Anachronox a few weeks ago and I’m so very excited about the universe you created… I really hope you have the oportunity to expand it somehow.
I guess I should start praying to Klaz or something, right? 🙂

Hey Tom, I hope you are recovering well. Big fan from the old times (Doom, Triad, Anachronox).

How about developing a machinima sequel of the later? Development team, time and cost are much more smaller. About the rights, if you guys create the sequel as a “fan made machinima” (ahem), well, dunno, maybe it works :-P.

You said you can just write sequel as a book..

Also, Tom, what is the secret how ti create great games? )

And what does have more weight – World or Characters?

    Sorry for Q-s

Rec.koner: both or neither. The balance is fun. It’s a personal authorship choice about the experience, both to make it and to play it. I like making games about characters. But characters have to do fun, novel things for the game to be fun. And the character’s reaction to things is part of the fun. In action games, it’s coming up with situations, providing tools to get through those situations, and then iterating on the fun, so it is possible, but not too easy, to do so.

And now with social and casual games, a lot of those rules are getting re-written! 🙂

I also said neither, because Tetris is fun, but has neither! It was an idea for an experience, iterated on until it was fun!

Jorpho: no, but thanks for turning me onto that, it looks interesting! 😀 The idea just struck me to start with a Black Square… and see what I fill it with, what the restriction brings out creatively. 🙂
